Child Abuse Awareness

Child Abuse Awareness Training (CAAT)


After completing this training, you will:

  • Know the potential signs of child abuse.
  • Know how to file a report of suspected child abuse and with what agency.
  • Know how you are protected when filing a report.
  • Learn what happens after filing a report.

All employees must complete the training by September 30th of each school year. Updates will be regularly provided to the Local District Superintendents and District leadership on the status of completing this training.

The training consists of a customized LAUSD 17 minute video followed by an assessment that is accessed through the Learning Zone.

 

I.  Viewing the Child Abuse Awareness Training Video

To watch the video, please click on:  WATCH VIDEO -- the video is also available online on the 'Child Abuse Awareness Training'  tab under Offices.  You will have the ability to start and stop the online video at various points and continue the training at your convenience.  Also, please visit the CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS  website for other important links.

 

II.  Taking the Assessment

After reviewing the CAAT video, you MUST pass an assessment at 100% to demonstrate your knowledge and comprehension.

To access the assessment

  1. Log in to the Learning Zone:  https://lz.lausd.net
  2. Click the "My Assessment" tab.
  3. Click the "Start" link to begin the assessment. 

Please note:  You must have a valid/active LAUSD.net e-mail account in order to access the assessment  and  you need to have your Single-Sign-On (SSO) login credentials available.  To update your contact information, please go to: https://selfservice.lausd.net/irj/portal

 

III.  Printing the Certificate of Completion

Once you pass the assessment with a score of 100%, you can print your Certificate of Completion.

*Note:  If you are not immediately prompted to print your certificate, follow these steps:

  1. From the Learning Zone home page, click the "My History" tab.
  2. Click the Print link next to the course name.

If you require assistance navigating and/or accessing the training, contact local district staff in charge of Child Abuse Awareness Training. For technical issues, please call the ITD SERVICE DESK at (213) 241-5200.

To check the status of your enrollment, log on to the Learning Zone, then click the "My Classes" tab.  A list of classes will be displayed with a status of Enrolled or Wait Listed.

To view a history of classes taken, click the "My History" tab.
